Prosper, by Silver Fern Labs Β· Last updated 6 July 2026
The short version. Prosper is a self-tracking and information tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for your doctor β especially if you take medication, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.
Not medical advice
Everything Prosper shows β scores, zones, estimates, coach conversations, educational copy β is general information built from what you log. It is not personalised medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Decisions about your health belong with you and a qualified clinician who can actually examine you.
Fasting has real contraindications
Extended fasting is not safe for everyone. Do not fast beyond your normal eating pattern without medical guidance if any of these apply:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have type 1 diabetes, or take insulin or a sulfonylurea (or any glucose-lowering medication).
- You have a history of an eating disorder.
- You are under 18, underweight, or recovering from illness or surgery.
The app asks screening questions before long fasts and shows safety guidance β those rails are a courtesy, not a clinical assessment. They cannot know your full situation.
When to stop and seek help
Stop fasting and eat if you feel genuinely unwell β palpitations, confusion, fainting, or severe dizziness. A blood glucose reading below 3.0 mmol/L (54 mg/dL) is a medical matter: treat it, and seek urgent care if you feel unwell or it does not recover. If it's an emergency, call your local emergency number β not an app.
Estimates are estimates
Prosper labels every number as measured, modelled, or logged. Modelled values β including glucose estimates and fasting-zone timings β are typical-case guides computed from your logs. They are honest about being estimates, and they can be wrong for your body on any given day. Never dose medication or make treatment decisions from a modelled number.
Beta software
Prosper is in closed beta. It will have bugs. Keep your own records of anything that matters clinically, and export a backup before major updates. The app may change or be discontinued during the beta.
